Question: Do botulinum toxin injections cause dependence, and will there be any lasting effects once the treatment wears off?

Answer: No. Botulinum toxin injections do not cause dependence, and after one or several treatments, the skin and muscles do not become “dependent” on the injections. If you stop having the treatments, the effects of botulinum toxin will gradually wear off, muscle activity will return, and your facial expressions will return to their natural state.

Question: If an additional correction is needed after botulinum toxin injections, does this mean the doctor made a mistake?

Answer: Definitely not. Minor adjustments after the procedure do not mean that the doctor has made a mistake. Every person, and even different areas of the same body, may respond differently to botulinum toxin. This is influenced by the size and mass of the patient’s muscles, individual characteristics of the neuromuscular junction, as well as a range of other physiological factors.

Therefore, after 2 – 3 weeks, once the botulinum toxin has taken full effect, the doctor can objectively assess the result and, if necessary, perform small corrective injections. This is part of a professional and individualised approach aimed at achieving a harmonious and natural-looking result.
