Tooth(s) of wisdom

Feb. 22, 2021

A row of teeth is closed on both sides by the third molar, or wisdom teeth, whose hatching in the oral cavity is most commonly expected between the ages of 17 and 24. Most often, wisdom teeth cause problems because they don’t have enough space in their mouths, grow lopsided and require removal. If the tooth of wisdom grows lopsided, it can cause problems for the adjacent tooth, create a risk of inflammation.

This tooth can cause problems while still completely in the bone or just covered in gum and not visible in the mouth. Partially hatched when a small part of the tooth is visible, bacteria that cause inflammation, pain, swelling, difficulty moving the jaw and swallowing pass between the gum and tooth. Even if the wisdom tooth has completely dissolved, it is exposed to tooth and gum infections because it is difficult to access with a toothbrush and clean qualitatively. If you notice a defect in the tooth of wisdom, it’s more likely to choose to remove it than repair it because quality treatments are complex, time-consuming and expensive, and with a high probability that the tooth will continue to cause problems.

If a wisdom tooth with a defect or wrong growth direction has been spotted, it is preferable to remove it in time before symptoms of pain begin. To remove the wisdom tooth, you may need to open your gums or remove the bone around you. The wound was then sealed. If removing the tooth of wisdom has been through local anaesthesia, then there should be no problem going home or to work. It would be preferable to provide for at least the first three days without undue pressure.

After manipulation, you have to reckon with swelling and a little discomfort, you can have problems opening your mouth completely and swallowing. Bruising on the skin is also often expected. We recommend holding ice compresses for a more successful recovery process. Avoid undue stress by eating light food (porridge, yoghurt).

Your doctor can set the course of antibiotics at your discretion after removing the wisdom tooth.
